Last night we took a crew to the Delco Training Center to drill with Collingdale Companies 06 and 42. The purpose of the training was to go over our RIT capabilities. Members displayed the tools used by the Rapid Intervention Team to the members of 06 and 42. Chief Young explained our RIT procedures and went over how we would respond to a request for the RIT. Crews from Collingdale then set up a scenario for a downed firefighter and let the RIT demonstrate how they would handle the situation. After the simulated rescue of the downed firefighter Chief Young went over the rescue and answered questions from the members of 06 and 42. Thanks to the officers and members of Companies 06 and 42 for allowing the us the opportunity to show them our RIT capabilities. While the RIT was being demonstrated at the Training Center other members were at the Montgomery County Fire Academy taking the practical skills portion of the Fire Fighter I challenge. Check back for results of the challenge.
